Does your business need a skilled, reliable intern with a strong educational background—and are you willing to give that student a valuable work experience? If so, the University of Saint Mary may be able to connect you with a student whose education, desire to learn, and solid work ethic, could benefit your business.
The University of Saint Mary—Leavenworth’s and Lansing’s hometown university—is a well respected Catholic university that the Princeton Review has repeatedly named a “Best Midwestern College” in its national rankings. The Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth are founders and sponsors of the university, which was first established in 1923 as Saint Mary College.
USM now offers over 30 undergraduate and graduate programs, including traditional majors and pre-professional and professional programs, at four Kansas City-area locations, as well as online.
In keeping with USM’s Catholic heritage, the university emphasizes the moral and ethical
responsibilities of business.
“Some of the best employees that the bank’s had on a part-time basis have been students at Saint Mary,” says Pete Payne, president of Mid America Bank & Trust Co. “Not only were they excellent at their job, but they were excellent people with excellent character.”
A USM education is grounded in the liberal arts tradition while connecting learning to real world experiences in concrete and practical ways. In this way, our students are prepared to use their talents, knowledge, and energies to make a positive contribution to their professions and to our global society.
As internships and service-learning are essential components of our educational philosophy to educate the whole person—“mind, body, and spirit”—USM welcomes any opportunities area businesses and organizations may provide for our students to gain hands-on experience.
Although they have much in common, each USM academic department and program defines their internships and service-learning programs differently—in terms of what is expected, how much time is involved, whether or not compensation is acceptable, etc.
So, if you are interested in having a USM student serve as an intern with your company or organization—or participate in a service-learning experience with your organization (generally reserved for not-for-profits)
